What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional and informational support to individuals during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They help to empower parents by offering continuous support, advocating for their preferences, and providing comfort measures. Unlike medical professionals, doulas focus on the emotional and non-medical aspects of the birthing experience. Their goal is to facilitate a positive and informed birth experience for families.

Do you work with other doulas?

Yes. While I serve families as a solo doula, I have established trusted relationships with experienced doulas in the area. In the rare event that I am unable to attend your birth due to illness or emergency, a carefully selected backup doula—who shares my values and standard of care—would step in to support you. My priority is ensuring you feel continuously supported and cared for, no matter what.

How many birth clients do you take each month?

I accept two to three birth clients per month. This allows me to be fully present, on-call, and able to give each family the attentive, personalized support they deserve.

Can I use my HSA/FSA funds for doula services?

Yes! Doula services are considered an eligible expense by most HSA and FSA plans. I’m happy to provide an itemized receipt if needed for reimbursement. I always recommend checking with your specific plan provider to confirm coverage.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, I do! I’m happy to offer flexible payment plans to help make doula support more accessible for your family. I accept multiple forms of payment, including Venmo, cash, and check.

If cost is a concern, please don’t let that stop you from reaching out. Every family deserves compassionate, supportive care, and I’m always willing to have a conversation about options that work for your situation.

Do you replace a mothers husband or support person?

Absolutely not! I do not get in the way of you two. I enhance your relationship and help find ways for you to connect throughout the birthing process. I will teach you and your partner coping skills so they can help you manage pain during the birth. When your support person gets tired I will be there to support you and them.

I'm having a Cesarean birth. Do I still need a doula?

As your doula for a Cesarean birth, my aim is to foster a family-centered experience. I will make sure you are well-informed about your options and empower you to advocate for your birth preferences. In the delivery room, I will work to create a serene environment, focusing on yours and your partners comfort. Together, we will navigate this journey with compassion and support.

Can a doula still help even though I plan to get an epidural?

Yes, a doula can absolutely support you even if you choose to get an epidural. Doulas are trained to provide emotional and physical support throughout your labor, regardless of your pain choices. They can help you navigate the process, offer techniques, and advocate for your preferences during labor and delivery. Your doula's goal is to ensure you feel empowered and supported in your birthing.

What kind of support do you offer after the baby is born?

While I'm not a postpartum doula, I'm here to guide you through those crucial first days after your baby arrives. From assisting with early feeding choices to helping navigate important medical decisions, I'm dedicated to supporting your recovery and wellbeing. I genuinely care about your postpartum experience and am happy to share valuable resources and services to help you thrive in this new chapter.
